Valley City Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce it has received funding through the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Community Investment Program to purchase two new Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), enhancing emergency preparedness at two of the district's busiest facilities.

Thanks to the grant from CPKC, new AEDs have been installed at the Valley City Outdoor Pool and Bjornson Golf Course. These life-saving devices provide staff and first responders with another critical tool to respond quickly during a cardiac emergency.

An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable medical device designed to help someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. The device analyzes the heart's rhythm and, if necessary, delivers an electric shock to restore a normal heartbeat. AEDs are designed to be simple and safe to operate, providing clear voice instructions that guide users through each step while emergency medical services are on the way.

When someone experiences sudden cardiac arrest, every minute without defibrillation significantly reduces their chance of survival. Having AEDs readily accessible at recreational facilities where hundreds of community members and visitors gather each season can make a life-saving difference.

Valley City Parks and Recreation extends its appreciation to Canadian Pacific Kansas City and the CPKC Community Investment Program for their commitment to supporting community health and safety. Their investment helps ensure our staff are prepared with the equipment needed to respond when every second counts!
